The NTC Board of Governors has developed a new Strategic plan to realize NTC’s full potential for leadership and service as a key contributor to the vital ministry of the Church and the strength and resilience of the Catholic community in Western Canada. The plan builds on important developments at NTC over the past several years, including:
• NTC’s Bachelor of Arts in Catholic Studies launched in 2019 to meet the need for undergraduate philosophy programs in the Catholic tradition.
• The relocation and merging of the faculty and administration of Holy Spirit Seminary, the national seminary of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canada, with St. Joseph’s Seminary and NTC in 2019.
• The global COVID-19 pandemic and opportunities that arose with the shift to virtual delivery of NTC’s programs in 2020-21.
• A three-year $1-million US grant received from the Lilly Endowment Fund in 2021 to support an initiative called Pathways to Ministry led out of the Benedict XVI Institute to strengthen a culture of youth vocation within the Catholic community.
The plan outlines activities around four Strategic Priorities:
• Strategic Program Development - Building academic excellence and growing to serve.
• Catholic Leadership - Enhancing our theological contribution and thought leadership.
• Strong Organization - Building a strong and sustainable foundation for the future.
• Strategic Engagement - Fostering Catholic community for formation, vocation, and education.
